Jordan restructured its Tawjihi, and the change affects students currently in secondary school. This guide sets out what is established, and — just as importantly — what is not yet published, so families can ask the right questions rather than act on rumour.
Who the new plan applies to
The restructured system began with the 2024–2025 academic year. Students who entered Grade 11 in September 2024 or later sit the new plan. The first cohort under it graduates in 2026 and enters university in the 2026–2027 academic year.
Students who began Grade 11 before September 2024, and students sitting supplementary examinations under the earlier plan, remain on the previous system.

Two tracks instead of streams
The clearest change is structural. The old division into streams is replaced by two tracks:
- The academic track (المسار الأكاديمي), oriented toward university admission.
- The vocational track (المسار المهني / BTEC), oriented toward applied and technical preparation for the labour market.
Students in both tracks can progress to universities and university colleges from the 2026–2027 academic year onward.
The total is 1000, not 1400
Under the new plan the general total for the academic track is 1000 marks, calculated as the sum of Part 1 and Part 2 of the general examination. This replaces the familiar 1400 of the previous plan.
The examination period runs between 1 June and 31 August each year.
What is not yet clear, and why we are saying so
The detailed per-subject weightings under the new plan, and the exact split between Part 1 and Part 2, are not published in a single consolidated public source that we could verify. We are not going to guess them.
This matters because families make real decisions on these numbers. If you see a website confidently listing new-plan subject weightings, treat it carefully and confirm against the Ministry's own instructions or your school's Tawjihi teachers.

Structure across two years
The new Tawjihi is distributed across two academic years rather than concentrated in one, and gives students more freedom in choosing their educational field. For families, this means the choices made entering Grade 11 carry more weight than they used to.
What to confirm with your school
- Which plan your child sits, and the total their average is calculated from
- Which track they are enrolled in, and whether it can be changed
- Which educational field they have chosen, and what it requires
- Which subjects count toward their average
- What the current Ministry instructions say for their specific cohort
